Biography
Dr Yuh-Jye Lee is a distinguished computer scientist currently serving as the Senior Advisor to the National Security Council, Taiwan, a position he has held since May 20, 2024.
He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2001) and has held academic appointments at several prestigious institutions, including National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan Tech, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.
From November 2020 to January 2023, Dr Lee served as the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Office of Science and Technology Policy at the National Science and Technology Council, where he played a key role in shaping Taiwan's science and technology policies, overseeing budget allocations, and reviewing national-level projects. Dr Lee also served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Taiwan Information Security Center at the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI), Academia Sinica, during two terms: from August 2018 to February 2021, and from August 2023 to February 2024.
He has been a research fellow at CITI since August 2023. His research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence and security, with particular emphasis on AI in security and security in AI. Dr. Lee is also the initiator of the Trustworthy AI Dialogue Engine (TAIDE), a Taiwanese large language model based on Meta’s Llama family of open models, which is considered a critical component of AI sovereignty.
