Biography
John is a strategic consultant and advisor, and a non-executive director, with an extensive background in senior executive leadership in Defence and aviation.
John retired from the Australian Army as a brigadier in 2021 after a career of over 32 years. His Army career spanned from being a helicopter pilot to leading and managing in Defence Force senior leadership in a variety of command and staff positions. Executive leadership roles held include Chief of Staff of Australian Special Operations Command, Deputy Commanding General of the Combined Joint Land Force Component – Iraq and of the US Army 10th Mountain Division, and Director General for Australian Army Aviation.
Since leaving the Army, John has pursued a portfolio of board directorships and consulting engagements focused on Defence, government, industry engagement, and aviation. John was a non-executive director at the Macular Disease Foundation of Australia from 2015 until 2021.
John is a graduate of the Australian Defence Force Academy and the Royal Military College at Duntroon. He holds an MBA specialising in Accounting and Finance from Deakin University and a BA in Economics and Information Systems from UNSW. John is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an Associate Fellow with the Australian Institute of Management.
