Mali was a researcher working with the International Cyber Policy Centre in 2019.

Her research interests include the intersection of technology, geopolitics and human rights, applied ethics and the politics and security of Southeast Asia. 

She has a Bachelor of International Security Studies and a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the Australian National University. Prior to her role as a researcher Mali was an ASPI research intern.
