WPS in 2020 - Progressing implementation at a time of global uncertainty
By Genevieve Feely and Lisa Sharland
This webinar discusses the implementation and institutionalisation of the women, peace and security (WPS) agenda 20 years since its adoption by the UN Security Council. Panellists examine how collective commitments on WPS have been translated into concrete action, domestically and internationally.
Head of ASPI’s International Program, Lisa Sharland, was joined by Renata Dwan, Director of UNIDIR, Amy Haddad, gender equality and social inclusion expert, and Dr Anu Mundkur, Head of Gender Equality at CARE Australia, for a discussion moderated by ASPI’s Genevieve Feely. The panellists discussed the challenges ahead for the WPS agenda in the context of a year dominated by crises.
This event is brought to you by ASPI’s Women in Defence and Security Network (WDSN). The WDSN’s primary aim is to provide a forum to support the career development of women in the defence and security community in Australia, and to facilitate critical discussion around issues related to women’s participation and gender perspectives in the context of defence, national security and foreign policy.
