Biography

Dr Nathan Attrill is a China analyst at ASPI's Cyber, Technology and Security.

His research areas include CCP leadership and party affairs, China's "whole-of-society" approach to governance, foreign interference and economic coercion. He also has expertise on Taiwan and the Taiwan Strait.

Originally from New Zealand, he has also spent time studying and living in China. He has recently returned to Canberra after two years at New Zealand's Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. He holds a PhD in Chinese policy and governance from the Australian National University.

He has been quoted in the media on China-related subjects, including in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Globe and Mail, Financial Times, Die Zeit, South China Morning Post, and Axios.
