National security, disinformation and the media: In-conversation with David E. Sanger
Speakers David E. Sanger and David Wroe
In an era in which disinformation is a growing national security vulnerability, strategic rivalry is intensifying, and trust in traditional institutions is declining, the value of a strong, independent and reliable news media has never been more important.
The Australian Strategic Policy Institute is pleased to announce that David E. Sanger, the White House and National Security Correspondent for The New York Times, will join us for a discussion on the critical role the media plays in a healthy democracy amid growing geopolitical tension and rapid technological change.
Sanger, a Pulitzer Prize-winning senior writer at the Times with a career spanning more than four decades, will present insights from his latest book, New Cold Wars: China’s Rise, Russia’s Invasion, and the Struggle to Defend the West, which explores the geopolitical challenges posed by China and Russia.
The event will feature a fireside chat with David Wroe, ASPI’s strategic communications director. Together, they will explore the interplay of technology, disinformation, and national security, discussing the implications for global power dynamics and the integrity of democratic institutions.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, providing a chance to explore these critical topics further. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from one of the leading voices in national security journalism. Register now to secure your spot!
